The Blog

The idea for this blog came from a desire to share some old drawings of scientific subjects. I have several popular science books from the mid 19th century covering almost everything from the Moon to dinosaurs and snowflakes. The pictures are excuisitely detailed and beautiful, full of history and meaning. As the pages are thin and crumbling I am undertaking a project to photograph and document them.

This blog is for sharing these pictures of past science with you.

Beyond the main trail there might be occational connections to current science, art and literature, popular culture as well as some photographs of mine.

The Author

I am a science journalist and editor with a background in molecular biology research. I like libraries, adventures and writing letters and could not live without British period drama. I live in Finland near 60°12′20″N 024°39′20″E.
